Yet another national food service company is planning on opening a new location in Republic.
Whataburger, a fast-food chain based in San Antonio, submitted an application to build a restaurant at 1371 U.S. Highway, next to the recently opened Andy’s Frozen Custard. The chain has almost 900 locations across the United States.
If a permit is granted for the restaurant to be constructed, it will measure 3,747 square feet.
Allyssa Dudley, public information officer for the city of Republic, confirmed that Whataburger submitted an application to build a new restaurant on Monday, Nov. 22. She said that the fact that Whataburger, along with many other national chains, wants to open a restaurant in Republic signifies the city’s burgeoning development.
“The expansion of businesses into Republic shows that we’re a community that is not merely growing, but thriving,” she said. “We look forward to welcoming Whataburger to the city.”
