Willard’s Bolander “comes clean” about sex crimes

A Willard man was booked into the Greene County Jail on Wednesday, May 20, 14 months after apparently confessing to repeatedly molesting two girls. Edmond Louis Bolander, 54, is charged with 10 sex crimes, which, according to the criminal complaint, took place between 1993 and 1997.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, Bolander came into the Greene County Sheriff’s Office to speak about allegations about him molesting two girls. Bolander said he was investigated for the abuse in 2000 and denied the accusations at the time, but now he wished to “come clean” and make amends for his actions.
Bolander said he inappropriately touched the girls both above and underneath their clothing multiple times over many years and in multiple locations in Greene County. He estimated that he molested one girl 20 times and the other girl 50 times.
The probable cause statement said the two girls were given forensic interviews in 2000, in which they described the ways they said Bolander touched them repeatedly, and on at least one occasion, exposed himself. According to the probable cause statements, most of the incidents took place in Springfield, but one of the described incidents, which took place between September of 1996 and May of 1997, allegedly happened in Brookline.
Bolander is already a convicted sex offender. On Feb. 18, 2003, he pleaded guilty in Livingston County Circuit Court to first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sodomy; the victim in that case was a girl under the age of 14 at the time the abuse occurred. Bolander was sentenced to concurrent 15-year prison sentences; the sentences were suspended and Bolander was given five years of supervised probation. According to the criminal complaint, Bolander’s previous conviction makes him a persistent sex offender and subject to life-imprisonment without parole if he is convicted.
At press time, Bolander remained in the Greene County Jail in lieu of a $1 million open-court only bond. According to online records, if he is released on bond, he will be required to wear a GPS monitor at all times.
