Willard Speech & Debate earns second place in the nation

A small group of Willard Tigers attended the National Speech and Debate Association tournament in Dallas, Texas, last week. This tournament is the largest academic tournament in the world, with more than 1,000 schools attending from 10 countries. More than 225 students compete in each event. To be on the national stage is a dream for most speech and debate students.
Along with the “School of Honor” designation for Willard Schools, here are the results, including an impressive 2nd place finish by the Duo Interpretation Team of Ethan Gambriel and Tyler Simpson.
Results:
- Jayce Burney was in the Top 108 in Extemp. Debate.
- Raelyn Schapeler 33rd in Impromptu Speaking.
- Jayce Burney placed 63rd in World School Debate. - Denzel Ransom placed in the top 40 of International Extemporaneous Speaking. - And Ethan Gambriel and Tyler Simpson achieved their dream of performing on the main stage and placed second in the nation in Duo Interpretation.
