Republic annexes 20 acres southeast of Republic Ford
Republic City Council, at its March 3 meeting, voted to bring 20.5 acres into the city, following a voluntary annexation request from Rader Trust. The land is located in the 7500 block of West Farm Road 174, southeast of Republic Ford. The future land use destination for the property is in low-density residential, which includes single family residential developments at 1-6 units per acre.
In other action...
The council passed an ordinance, in the absence of council members Charlie Brashers and Brandon Self, allowing the city to charge an additional 50 percent for utilities provided to a user outside city limits with or without execution of the voluntary consent to annex.
The council also passed an ordinance prohibiting parking vehicles within six feet of a mailbox. This, following multiple complaints from city residents of parked cars blocking mail delivery.
No city cleanup…
It was also made known at the meeting that the city will be discontinuing the annual citywide cleanup. The cleanup, footed by the city, was designed to lessen overall city trash every year, but instead the amount has only grown. This has led city officials to believe that the trash the city is paying to haul away is trash from outside the city.
New sign…
The front of Republic City Hall is a little brighter at night now thanks to new signs that have been placed on the buildings facade. The signs come by way of money from a Greene County grant for special projects.
