An estimated 2,000 people turned up Sunday for Ash Grove’ s Sparks in the Park Sesquicentennial celebration. The event included an array of vendors, rides for kids and live music from the band N2Deep. Also appearing were Missouri Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe and the Shamrock Irish Dancers. The day culminated with a fireworks show conducted by local businessman and longtime pyro specialist Doug Renshaw.
The weekend-long Sesquicentennial commemoration also included a 5K run hosted by the Ash Grove Lodge No. 100 A.F & A.M., Saturday morning and walking tours of the Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead.
“It’s all about small town love,” said Ash Grove Mayor Les Gardner. “It was a great event for all who attended. And a special thank you to all volunteers and attendees.”
