People Helping People Christmas assistance readies for season
People Helping People is offering Christmas assistance to families within the Republic and Clever school districts. Qualified families will receive a holiday food basket, with food for one week, and Christmas gifts for their school aged children up to the age of 17.
PHP needs generous sponsors to ‘adopt’ a child this Christmas. To share your Christmas, and brighten the holidays for the under-served community, contact Kathy Kelly at 732-7634, or email phprepmo@gmail.com. A child or children matching your wishes will be supplied, along with a gift list of wishes. They ask that $60 be spent on each child. Cash donations are always needed to purchase food and to help late sign-up families. Donations can be mailed to People Helping People, PO Box 505, Republic MO 65738-0505. All donations are tax deductible as PHP is a 501(3)c.
If you need assistance:
People Helping People will mail applications to clients who received help in 2020. For caution during Covid-19, fill out the application completely and mail it back. Applicants must be the custodial parent or guardian.
If you did not receive help last Christmas and need help, drop by PHP at 210 N. Pine in Republic to sign up on Tuesdays, Nov. 9, 16, and 23. You must have social security cards for every member of the dwelling (including children, parents, grandparents, live-ins, etc.) with no exceptions. In addition, proof of residence in the form of a current utility bill is a requirement. If social security cards are missing, contact the Social Security office for replacements before asking for assistance. Applicants cannot apply for Christmas assistance from any other organization and receive help from PHP.
