Work began on U.S. Highway 160 Monday, July 15, near Willard. Workers began installing erosion control devices in various locations
They also began clearing trees and brush along Route 160 on the south end near I-44 progressing north toward Willard
Republic city employees arrived at the Republic Aquatic Center on Sunday, July 14, to find a lawnmower at the bottom of the pool. As a result, the aquatic center was closed on Sunday and remained closed on Monday, July 15, while the pool was cleaned.
In February of 2018, Kiersten Trantham, then a 10-year-old girl living in Walnut Grove, was diagnosed with cancer. Over the next 16 months, she fought bravely against her illness, determined to beat cancer, but her fight came to an end when she succumbed on Thursday, June 27.

The new Halltown Dollar General store is making tall strides in short order. The building, which sits on the south side of Highway 266 in Halltown, now has four walls and a roof, as well as the usual Dollar General facade.
Ash Grove Board of Aldermen head Troy Watts, presided over the board’s July 1 meeting in the stead of Mayor Les Gardner who was out of town. Watts led the board through a laundry list of appointments, an annual operation that usually goes smoothly.
Some 26 youths and more than a dozen adults made the trek through Ash Grove’s Serenity Valley the morning of July 4 for the subdivision’s annual Independence Day parade.
