Alborn resigns from Ash Grove Board of Education

Alborn

Ash Grove Board of Education member David Alborn, who successfully led the charge for a 4-day school week at the district, has resigned eight months short of his elected term. The resignation was announced at the board's July 23 meeting, in Alborn's absence.
His letter of resignation, which cited the position requiring more time than he could dedicate, was read aloud by board president Amanda Reece.
"I've enjoyed meeting and working with you all," said Alborn's letter. "I can clearly see each one of you have the best interests of this district and the students in mind. As you have seen, a healthy mix of perspectives and robust discussions and with good results. I wish you all the best in the future. And I'm sure you can acquire a replacement in the remaining months of my term. Warmest regards, David."
The board then voted in favor of accepting the resignation.
Superintendent Shane Medlin publicly thanked Alborn for "his service to our students, our school, and our community."
Medlin then described the next steps for the district for filling the position.
"Going forward, we will be in contact with the MSBA about the next steps of how to best move forward in filling that position and what we want to do to satisfy board policy," Medlin said.
Alborn was originally voted onto the board in April 2023. His term was to expire in April of 2026.
