Ash Grove finishes regular season with 22 wins, Pirates move on to district tournament
The Class 3, eighth ranked Ash Grove High School baseball team finished up their 2026 regular season by hosting Jasper on Monday, May 11 and winning the game 16-4.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning. The Pirates answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 2-2. Jasper scored a single run in the top of the third inning to retake the lead, 3-2. A nine-run bottom of the third inning by Ash Grove, put the game out of reach, as the Pirates went up 11-3. The Eagles added one more run in the top of the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 11-4. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ash Grove struck again for five more runs to make 16-4.
Sawyer Burks pitched a good game, allowing four runs, three earned on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Kyler Reece was 2-3 with a triple, four runs scored and two RBIs, Ty Messley went 3-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Joseph Jolivette was 1-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Jaden Shorter finished the game 3-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Ash Grove is now 22-6 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Stockton on Monday to play Stockton in the semifinals of the Class 3, District 12 Tournament. The championship game of the tournament was scheduled for last night.
Golf
Easton Rust was scheduled to make the trip to Farmington to compete in the Class 2 Boys State golf championship on Monday and last night.
