Ash Grove football defeats Pierce City Eagles on homecoming night

The Ash Grove High School football team returned to their winning ways on Friday, Sept. 20, at home by defeating the Pierce City Eagles, 22-20, on homecoming night.
Ash Grove led 6-0 after the first quarter on a 25-yard touchdown pass and increased their lead to 14-6 on a one-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion in the second quarter to take an eight-point lead into the half.    
Pierce City was able to cut the score to 14-13 by the end of the third quarter but Ash Grove added another one-yard touchdown and two-point conversion to seal the two-point win.
The Pirates had 228 yards of total offense in the game, with 186 yards coming in the air and the other 42 yards coming on the ground.
Ash Grove is now 3-1 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Miller this Friday night.
Marionville leads the Class 1, District 3 standings with 64.58 points, followed by Adrian (50.50 points), Pierce City (45.67 points), Ash Grove (41.83 points), Windsor (39.83 points), Skyline (37.42 points), Midway (36.67 points), Lincoln (35 points), Cabool (28.86 points) and Miller (27.20 points).
 
Lady Pirates volleyball gets two more wins on hardwood over Lockwood, 417 Mavericks

Volleyball
In volleyball, the Lady Pirates traveled to Lockwood on Thursday, Sept. 19, and came home with a three-set win, 26-24, 25-10 and 25-17. Ash Grove traveled to Nixa on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and came home with a four-set win over 417 Mavericks Home School, 25-15, 25-20, 13-25 and 25-12.
Ash Grove is now 4-3-2 on the season and were scheduled to host Diamond last night.
