Ash Grove Lady Pirates win sixth straight game pushing record to 11-8

The Ash Grove High School girls basketball team continues to roll after wins over Sarcoxie and Diamond last week to push their win streak to six.
The Lady Pirates jumped out to a 19-4 first quarter lead at Diamond on Jan. 24 and never looked back, cruising to a 59-25 win.
Ash Grove added another 18pointsinthesecondquar- ter to take a 37-12 halftime lead. The Lady Pirates added 10 points in the third quarter and 11 points in the fourth quarter to win the game, 59-25.
Riley Hammons led Ash Grove with 20 points; Emma Eagleburger finished with a
double-double, scoring 13 points while pulling down 15 rebounds and Briley Bagley ended the game with 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Lady Pirates opened the week hosting Sarcoxie on Jan. 21 and after falling behind early, rallied for a 56-45 win.
Sarcoxie led the Lady Pirates, 20-11 after the first quarter, but then the Lady Pirates clamped down on defense, allowing just five points in the second quarter, while putting up 13 points to take a 24-20 halftime lead. Ash Grove continued the onslaught in the second half, outscoring Sarcoxie, 15-8 in the third quarter and 17-12 in the fourth quarter to win the game, 56-45.
Khloe Moad led Ash Grove with 17 points and Eagle- burger had another double- double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Ash Grove now stands at 11-8 on the season and have won six straight games. The Lady pirates were scheduled to travel to Pierce City on Jan. 28 and will host Miller on Thursday night.
Boys
There were no statistics available for the boys games last week, but Ash Grove lost at Diamond on Jan. 25, 81- 53 and lost against Sarcoxie, 71-57 on Jan. 22.
The Pirates are now 3-16 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Pierce City on Jan. 29 before hosting Miller on Friday night.
