Ash Grove football gets trounced by undefeated host Marionville
The Ash Grove High School football team traveled to Class 1, No. 1 ranked Marionville on Friday, Oct. 13 and came home with a stinging 42-0 defeat.
The loss dropped Ash Grove to 6-2 on the season and they are scheduled to play their final regular season game of the year this Friday against Sarcoxie.
With the loss, the Pirates are in fourth place in the Class 1, District 1 standings. Marionville leads the district with 57 points, followed by Portageville (53.75 points), Thayer (43.91 points), Ash Grove (40.64 points), Cabool (37.21 points), Charleston (29.57 points), Miller (28.3 points), Pierce City (28.22 points) and Hayti (24.09 points).
Lady Pirate volleyball seeded third in upcoming district tournament
In volleyball last week, the Lady Pirates ended their regular season with a four-set win over Pleasant Hope at home on Thursday, Oct. 12, 25-17, 25-15, 24-26 and 25-9.
“Senior night was a great success,” said head coach Diana Eiberger. “We are proud of each of our seniors, and we will always remind them once a Pirate, always a Pirate. We also recognized the seniors from Pleasant Hope with a small token as it was their last away game of the season before districts.”
Ash Grove also hosted Sarcoxie at home on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and came away with a three-set victory, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-22.
The Lady Pirates are now 12-8-2 on the season and will start the Class 2, District 12 tournament tomorrow night at Urbana against Pleasant Hope.
El Dorado Springs is the top seed, followed by Skyline, Ash Grove, Lamar, Stockton and Pleasant Hope. The tournament opens tomorrow night, with the semifinals being played on Saturday and the championship game scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23.
