Bekemeier earns three medals to lead Republic golf

Freshman Cason Bekemeier earned individual medals in three consecutive tournaments to lead Republic’s golf team. Bekemeier finished sixth at Marshfield and sixth at Ozark, then earned second place at Carthage.
Republic finished in fourth place as a team twice in the three tournaments – at Marshfield and at Carthage. Republic finished sixth at Ozark.
Through 18 holes at Carthage, Monday, Bekemeier was in a three-way tie for the lead with a score of 71. After a one-hole playoff, Carl Junction’s Jack Spencer won the tournament, Bekemeier finished second, and Max Templeman of Carthage was third.
Republic finished with an overall team score of 323 at Carthage. Joplin won the tournament with a 308, Carthage shot a 309, and Carl Junction finished with a 321.
Republic’s Griffin Frey shot an 80. McCord Deken finished with an 82. Jace Henry shot a 90, and Brayden Tharp finished with a 98.
