Bobby Gene Herd

Bobby Gene Herd passed away Sept. 24, 2020 with his family around him. He was born on Jan. 17, 1941 to Ora (Brown) and Quimby Herd in Lutie, (Theodosia). He was preceded in death by his parents Ora and Quimby Herd. He is survived by his son Tommy Herd of Bois D’Arc; two grandchildren; his brother Billy Joe Herd and wife Jamey of Dogwood; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Herd loved to go have breakfast in Republic and Ash Grove with several friends. He also tried to celebrate his birthday every year with his brother as they were born on the same day five years apart.
Herd was an avid horseman who owned Fox Trotters. He was a lifetime member of the Missouri Fox Trotting Association and attended every year for 45 years.
Herd attended the Cowboy Church in Springfield until his health failed and he moved to the Ash Grove Nursing Home.
A visitation was at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2020 at Holden Cremation and Funeral Service, Sparta.
A graveside service followed at 2 p.m. also Sept. 28, 2020 at Lutie Cemetery, Lutie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutie Cemetery at Theodosia or the American Diabetes Association in Herd’s honor.
