Bois D’Arc’s Pierce arrested, charged with multiple serious crimes

A former Republic man is in custody at the Greene County Jail in Springfield, accused of multiple crimes. Michael Ryan Pierce, now living in Bois D’Arc, is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful    possession of a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child and tampering with a motor vehicle. He was booked into the county jail on Thursday, Jan. 9.
According to one probable cause statement in the case, the first count of unlawful use of a weapon stems from a confrontation Pierce, 45, allegedly got into with another motorist on Jan. 3 of last year. The motorist reported to police that Pierce was driving eratically behind him and flashing his headlights.  He said both he and Pierce exited their vehicles at an intersection and started yelling at each other. The motorist also said Pierce was holding a black handgun, which he allegedly used to push the motorist in the chest, and then fired two shots toward the side of the road. After that, both parties got back into their vehicles and left. The motorist reported the incident, and told investigators he feared for his life.
A police officer responding to the scene found a 9mm shell casing by the side of the road.
Investigators spoke with Pierce later that day at his place of employment. According to
the probable cause statement, Pierce claimed the motorist was driving erratically and slammed on his brakes. He said he and the motorist did exit their vehicles and had words, but denied having a weapon or getting physical with the motorist. He consented to a search of his vehicle; no weapon was found.
The other charges stem from an incident which took place at Pierce’s residence in Republic on Aug. 14, 2019.
According to the probable cause statement filed in that case, Republic police officers executed a search warrant on Pierce’s home in search of illegal narcotics. Pierce was put into handcuffs as the warrant was executed; his son, a boy under the age of 15, was also present.
One of the officers executing the warrant reported finding 29.8 grams of methamphetamines, 76 grams of marijuana, two types of Schedule IV pills, two marijuana pipes, a firearm, miscellaneous types of ammunition and a stolen motorcycle. A small amount of marijuana was also allegedly found in the boy’s bedroom.
Pierce is next scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Jan. 24. According to the criminal complaint against him, he was convicted of second-degree assault in Cass County in 2010.
