Bois D'Arc Methodist to celebrate 140th anniversary

Bois D’Arc Methodist Church will be celebrating its 140th anniversary on July 12. The church itself is much newer than 140 years as this event aims to celebrate the congregation, not the building. To commemorate the occasion, the church will be hosting a special service at 11 a.m.. Following this, the Asher Creek Boys will sing some gospel tunes at 2 p.m.

The special service will consist of a rededication of the church and a reeducation of the members within, reports pastor Doug Miessner. The congregation will have a moment of remembrance of their baptism and a remembrance of the vows they took during that baptism.

At 2 p.m. the Asher Creek Boys will play a free concert though an offering will be taken to their benefit. Cake and ice cream will be served thereafter.

Miessner said that all people, including those who have once attended or those who may have never attended the church are welcome.

“We invite anyone to come out and celebrate with us,” said Miessner.
