Dan Melvin Mason

Dan Melvin Mason, 91, of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, at The Neighbor- hoods at Quail Creek. He was born on Friday, Nov. 9, 1928, in Halltown, to Charles and Phenia (Carter) Mason.
Mason attended school in Aurora and worked as a routeman with Maple Leaf Dairy in Monett prior to enlisting. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict receiving the Purple Heart among other medals. After his military service, he worked as a manager with the Victor Office Ma- chine Company in Utah. Mason returned to Missouri after retiring.
Mason is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Phenia Mason; and a brother, Charles Douglas Mason. He is survived by his three sons, Melvin, Jerry, and Mike; a sister, Elaine Bollinger; and friends.
Visitation was at 9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn St., in Springfield. A final salute by the Patriot Guard Riders began at 9:45 a.m., in the funeral home after which, they escorted Mason to Rock Prairie Cemetery in Halltown, for a graveside service to begin at 10:30 a.m., with military honors.
His care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Ltd., DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
