David Eugene Taylor

David Eugene Taylor passed away on March 18, 2026 in Springfield. On May 20, 1951, he was born to William and Vera Mae Taylor in Malden. He graduated from Billings High School in 1969 and went on to a distinguished 35-year career in law enforcement, ending with his retirement as the chief of police of Billings. During his service, he was awarded the Law Enforcement Purple Heart following a career-ending injury sustained in the line of duty.
He was preceded in death by, Louise Pitts; his parents William and Vera Mae Taylor; his siblings William "Bill" Taylor, Richard Taylor, Grover "Dee" Taylor, Wilma Taylor, Linda (Taylor) Tate, and Reta Taylor; and his niece Tari (Schaumann) Smith.
He is survived by his daughter, Andrea “Andi” Deutscher and her husband, Ben Deutscher; his daughter, Chandra “Chance” Taylor and Jack Haslip, and grandchildren.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at a later date with interment at Clear Creek Cemetery in Springfield.
