David Leroy Pendergrass

David Leroy Pendergrass, 81, of Everton, passed away Jan. 3, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Pendergrass was born in Everton April 22, 1940 to Seldon and Jessie (Hammons) Pendergrass.

Pendergrass married Carol Adcox on Dec. 19, 1959. They just celebrated their 62nd anniversary. To this union, four children were born. They resided in the Kansas City area until he retired in 1985 from the Teamsters Local 41.

Pendergrass was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Freeze; brother, Charlie Pendergrass; and two grandchildren.

Pendergrass is survived by his wife Carol; his children, David (Davy) Pendergrass of Everton, Debbie Clark and husband Basil of Ash Grove, Tammy O’Bryan and husband Mark of Kansas City, Kan., Stan Pendergrass and wife Valerie of Bois D’ Arc, Connie Burch and husband Danny of Bonner Springs, Kan.; siblings, Janette Mitchell and husband Ed, Kenny Pendergrass and wife Marilyn, Marlene DeClue and husband Leonard, all of Everton; brother-in-law Johnny Adcox and wife Nancy of Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services were at noon Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 at Birch Funeral Home in Ash Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at the funeral home. Note “In Memory of David Pendergrass” in the memo.
