Hot Willard Tiger baseball continues deep playoff run

The Willard Tiger baseball squad is making quite a run this postseason, with its latest victory—in the Class 5 state quarterfinal—narrowly besting Helias Catholic, 2-1. The win sends the Tigers to the state semifinals where they will clash with Festus, at 4 p.m. Friday at US Ballpark in Ozark.
In the quarterfinal match, which was played on the Tigers home turf at Tom E. Greenwade Field, Willard’s Cooper Wilken got the start and win for the host team, in an outing that only allowed two hits and one run by the hurler.
Helias finishes the season with a 17-9 overall record, while Willard carries on, looking to build on its impressive 32-7 record.
