John O. Rainey

John O. Rainey, 76,of Republic, passed away at his home on Aug. 17, 2021, with his loving wife by his side. He was born March 30, 1945, in Springfield, to Ellis and Minnie (Orr) Rainey. He was the youngest of two children in the home.
Rainey graduated from Republic High School, class of 1963. On July 4, 1964, he married Linda Back. This union was blessed with two daughters, Shelly and Christy.
Rainey worked in manufacturing at Dayco for 27 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Shriners, and of the Masons, Lodge # 284 out of Aurora. He and Linda were longtime members of Northside Christian Church.
Rainey is preceded in death by his parents.
Rainey is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda, daughters, Shelly Cook and Christy Barnett and husband Wylie, three grandchildren; a great-grandson; sister Gayle Copeland; sister-in-law Darlene Bilyeu; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Funeral services were at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at Meadors Funeral Home, with burial following at Brookline Cemetery.
