Joyce Elaine Barnhart

Joyce Elaine Barnhart, of Republic died Jan. 29, 2023.  
Barnhart was born March 28, 1952, in Buffalo, to Elvin and Edna Garrett, the fifth child of six. She married Michael Barnhart in 1973 and would have celebrated 50 years together this April. They had  two children, Brandon and Krystal.
Barnhart began working for Southwestern Bell as a young adult. She also graduated with a bachelors in communications from MSU while working full-time and raising a family. She transitioned to working for AT&T when Bell and AT&T split. She served in many roles over her time working in telecommunications.
After her retirement, she and Mike were able to spend more time traveling in their RV.
Barnhart enjoyed teaching Bible Study and Sunday school at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She lost a lot during her battle with ALS, but was a true prayer warrior.
Barnhart was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edna and Elvin Garrett; brothers Jesse, George and Roger Garrett.
Barnhart is survived by her sisters Wanda Henderson and Helen Holiday; husband Michael Barnhart, of Republic; son and daughter-in-law Brandon and Robyn Barnhart, of Springfield; her son-in-law and daughter, Ian and Krystal Neal, of Springfield; and grandchildren.   
Barnhart’s memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist, followed by graveside at Lindsey cemetery in Republic.
