Lady Pirate volleyballers lose three close games in rough week

Ash Grove looks to Sparta Invitational; seeded sixth in district tournament to be played at Miller
The Ash Grove high school volleyball team played three close games last week but lost all three of them.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, the Lady Pirates hosted Miller but lost in four sets, 25-23, 14-25, 20-25 and 9-25.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Ash Grove traveled to Stockton but fell in four sets, 25-21, 22-25, 16-25 and 18-25.    
The Lady Pirates opened the week by going to Sparta on Monday, Oct. 7, but also lost a close match, this time in five sets, 25-17, 19-25, 27-25, 13-25 and 6-15.
Ash Grove is now 7-10-3 on the season and will finish up their regular season schedule this week by traveling to Sarcoxie last night and to Skyline tomorrow night before heading to Sparta for the Sparta Lady Invitational this Saturday.
The Class 2, District 10 seedings have been released and Miller is the top seed, followed by Spokane, New Covenant Academy, Marionville, Sparta and Ash Grove.
The tournament will be played in Miller and will start on Wednesday, Oct. 23, the semifinals will be played on Saturday, Oct. 26, with the championship game taking place on Monday, Oct. 28.

Football
No statistics were provided by the Ash Grove football team coaching staff, but the Pirates moved to 6-1 after hosting and defeating Springfield Central, 32-12, on Friday, Oct. 11.
Ash Grove is scheduled to host Marionville this Friday night. Marionville is currently first in the Class 1, District 3 standings with 60.21 points. Adrian is second with 52.76 points, followed by Ash Grove (47.64 points), Windsor (45.95 points), Pierce City (41.47 points), Midway (35.19 points), Lincoln (32.19 points), Miller (29.61 points), Skyline (26.88 points), and Cabool (26.67 points).
