Lady Pirates claim share of Southwest Conference title

The Ash Grove High School volleyball team won two more games last week, securing their place as Southwest Conference tri-champions.
    Ash Grove hosted Lockwood on Oct. 11 and defeated the Lady Tigers in straight sets, 25-8 and 25-18. The Lady Pirates also defeated Marionville in straight sets on Oct. 9, 25-14 and 25-12.
    Ash Grove will be the fourth seed in the upcoming Class 2, District 9 tournament. Fair Grove is the top seed, followed by Strafford, Clever, Ash Grove, New Covenant Academy, Spokane and Conway. The tournament will begin Oct. 22 and will be played in Clever.
    Ash Grove will play New Covenant in a first round game on Oct. 22. The semifinals and the championship game will be played on Oct. 23.
