Lady Pirates defeat Greenfield in lopsided affair, fall to good Diamond team

Three players in double figures for blowout game against visiting Lady Wildcats

The Ash Grove High School girls’ basketball team played two games last week, defeating Greenfield but losing to Diamond.
On Friday, Dec. 8, the Lady Pirates hosted Greenfield and put on a defensive clinic, beating Greenfield 52-5.
Ash Grove led 24-2 after the first quarter and 40-2 by halftime. Greenfield didn’t score in the third quarter, while the Lady Pirates put up seven points to increase their lead to 47-2. Greenfield did manage to score three points in the final quarter, but Ash Grove answered with five points of their own to close out the 47-point victory.
Millison Sapp and Bristol Lathrop each had 13 points and Madison Lutz added 11 points in the win.
Ash Grove traveled to Diamond on Tuesday, Dec. 5, but came home with a 58-42 loss.
The Lady Pirates led 14-8 after the first quarter and were tied 20-20 at halftime. Diamond took off in the third quarter putting up 20 points to take the lead 40-28 heading into the final quarter of play. In the fourth, Ash Grove put up 14 points but Diamond added 18 points to finish the scoring and win the game 58-52.
Cora Duit led Ash Grove with 15 points.

The Lady Pirates are now 4-2 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Clever on Monday night.
