“We had a great run in districts,” said head coach Austin Tipton. “I had never seen the girls on the team more locked in and that was great. Overall, as a team we did all I could ask for. We hit, fielded and pitched great. Johnson had an amazing game in the district final versus Purdy with her first career home run and scored the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh on Andrus’ hit to right field. The goal since I got to Ash Grove was to win a district title and we were happy to complete that goal, now we are grateful to be able to set new goals and aim to continue this season for a little while longer.”
The Lady Pirates are now 22-8 and were scheduled to travel to Liberal last night to take on Liberal in the Class 1 state tournament.
