The Republic softball team had a busy week, playing seven games in five days. The Lady Tigers started with two conference victories, defeating Waynesville 13–3 at home and Lebanon 12–1 on the road. They also celebrated Senior Night with their win over Waynesville, honoring seven seniors: Cass Ellison, Addison Walker, Lilli Richerson, Ashland Schaumann, Sammi Watson, Annabelle Gerhardt-Hobbs and Brooklyn Reed.
“They just continue to build the foundation of Republic softball,” Dishman said of the senior class. “These girls are competitors and they keep fighting, and they’re quality kids… Their GPAs are out of this world, so they’ve been great products of Republic High School.”
The team then hosted games in the Fall Festival Tournament on Friday and Saturday, facing five opponents. Republic won three games and lost two in the tournament, losing 10–2 to Fort Zumwalt West, beating Smithville (4–0), Excelsior Springs (5–3), and Jackson (15–3), before ending the weekend with a loss to Lee’s Summit West, 16–2.
Republic finished the week with a 5–2 record, improving their season record to 10–4 overall.
