Lady Tigers softball knocks off Joplin and Ozark in winning week

The Lady Tigers defeated Joplin 12-0, at Joplin on Thursday, Oct. 3, and knocked off Ozark 8-7, at Ozark on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
After falling behind 2-0 after the first inning against Ozark, Willard rallied to score one run in the second inning, three runs in the third inning and two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings.
“The girls pulled out a major win against conference rival Ozark,” said head coach AshLeigh Williams. “It was a back and forth battle with both teams making
some crucial mistakes, but we were able to pull in out in the end. It was a great confidence booster for the girls.”
Keeley Aaron led the way, going 3-4 with a run scored and an RBI; Ryley Ritchey went 3-4 with a run scored, Baylee Gastineau was 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Maliyah Wells went 2-4, with two runs scored and Mackenzie Davis finished the game 1-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Sydni Fletcher got the win, going seven innings, allowing seven runs, four earned, on 10 hits with five walks and a strikeout.
Willard is now 10-6 on the season and were scheduled to host Bolivar on Monday and Branson on Tuesday before heading to Rolla on Friday and Saturday to compete in their tournament.
