Lady Tigers softball splits four games at Morrisville Tournament
Willard boys’ soccer picks up two wins at Lebanon Tournament
The Willard High School softball team opened their 2022 season by traveling to Morrisville to compete in their tournament, finishing 2-2 overall.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, the Lady Tigers defeated Camdenton, 6-3, behind the strong pitching performance of Abigail McMillin, who went six innings, allowing three runs, two earned on six hits with two strike outs.
Harley Durr went 1-2 at the plate with three RBI's, Hannah Burks scored a run and drove in two and Jazlyn Rennison went 1-2 with an RBI.
In their other Saturday contest, Willard fell to West Plains, 7-4. Burks took the loss, going five innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits with two walks and six strike outs. Alyson Miller was 1-3 with a run scored and two RBI's and Rennison went 1-2 with an RBI.
On Friday, Aug. 26, the Lady Tigers lost a close one to Republic, 5-4. Burks took the loss, going four innings, allowing five runs, four earned on five hits with four walks and three strike outs. Burks did go 2-3 at the dish with two RBI's and McMillin went 1-2 with two RBI's.
Willard shut out Waynesville in their other Friday game, 13-0. McMillin got the win, going three innings, allowing just the one hit, with two walks and two strike outs. Burks was 1-2 with a run scored, a home run and two RBI's, McMillin went 2-2 with three RBI's, Durr was 1-2 with a run scored and three RBI's and Mia DeVault finished the game 1-2 with a run scored and two RBI's.
Willard is now 2-2 on the season and were scheduled to host Lebanon today and McDonald County on Friday.
Boys' soccer
In boys’ soccer, Willard traveled to Lebanon to take part in their tournament on Friday and Saturday and came home with two wins. After falling to West Plains, 2-0, earlier on Saturday, Aug. 27, the Tigers rebounded to beat Carl Junction 4-1. Caleb Kuchta led the Tigers with two goals and Daniel Proctor and Marseli Popesku each had a goal in the win.
The Tigers opened the tournament by knocking off Greenwood, 9-1, on Friday, Aug. 26. Kuchta led Willard with five goals, Proctor added two goals and Popesku and Israel Martinez each had a goal in the game.
The Tigers are now 2-1 on the young season and were scheduled to host Ozark last night before hosting Fair Grove tomorrow night.
