Mata L. Calkins

Mata L. Calkins, 86, of Ozark, formally of Kansas City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. Calkins was born Sept. 16, 1935, near St. Louis. On Sept. 7, 1963, Mata and Raymond Calkins were united in marriage. They shared 57 years together, before Raymond’s passing in 2020.
Calkins had a passion for children and taught in the Kansas City School district for 30 years. Even after retirement she volunteered in the school system. She was also an avid animal lover, especially her cat Jerome.
Calkins is survived by her son, Richard E. Calkins of Texas; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister Sandra; other family and many friends.
Calkins is preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; and several siblings.
Private services will be held at a later date.
