Metzger jumps into season with two win

Karissa Metzger is already Republic's only state swim medalist. And her senior season is off to a strong start, after she won her first two individual races in Springfield, Friday.
Metzger finished first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.15. That was five seconds faster than the second-place swimmer.
Metzger also won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.16. In that event, she was three seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
At the All-Relay Meet in Springfield, Thursday, Republic's best finish was 8th in the 200-yard breaststroke relay. Metzger, Maddy Barnes, Lena Mais, and Jillian Aubuchon finished with a time of 2:57.12 in that event.
