The Nodaway Valley boys' golf team has landed a spot in the state tournament. Front row: Spencer Lamb, Jackson Lamb; back row: Coach Steve Shantz, Wes Davis, Noah Cooper, and Sam Marnin.

The Nodaway Valley boys qualified for the state golf meet with a first place finish last Friday in district competition at Crestwood Hills in Anita.  NV had a score of 308, followed by Griswold at 318.  It’s NV’s first trip to state since the 2003 season.

Jackson Lamb garnered medalist honors with a 73.  Lamb won on the first sudden death playoff hole with a birdie over Elijah Lamoureux of Westwood of Sloan.

Second for NV and fifth overall was Spencer Lamb with a score of 76.  Lamb was playing the course with a broken toe.

Sam Marnin finished with a 79, followed by Wes Davis with an 80 and Noah Cooper with a 97.

“As the tournament went along, I knew we were playing well and all the hard work and playing tough courses and tough competition was paying off, as the players rose to a high level,” said Coach Steve Shantz.  “We want to thank the parents, school and community for all their support they have given us along the way.”

The state meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at the American Legion Course in Marshalltown.
