Pirate baseball scores 18 runs against Mansfield in slugfest

Lady Pirate softball shuts out visiting Fair Grove Lady Eagles last week
The Ash Grove High School baseball team won their lone game last week in dominating fashion, knocking off Mansfield 18-2 at Mansfield on Tuesday, March 29.
The Pirates scored one run in the first inning, two runs in the third inning, another run in the fourth inning, six runs in the fifth inning and finished it off with an eight run sixth inning.
“We really showed the potency of our offense today,” said head coach Berrah Brown. Every player in the lineup put together good at bats and contributed positively.”
Cooper Burks went 3-4 with a triple, three runs scored and four RBI’s; Jonathon Rollhaus was 2-3 with a triple and a double and four RBI’s, Nate Trammell finished 3-4 with two runs scored and three RBI’s, William Hatch was 2-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBI’s, Brock Mooneyham went 2-5 with two RBI’s and Parker Crow finished with three hits, a double and four runs scored.
Mooneyham got the win, tossing five innings, allowing one run and one walk while striking out 12.
Ash Grove is now 2-1 on the season and will have a busy week as the Pirates were scheduled to host Billings on Monday before traveling to Buffalo yesterday and hosting Miller tonight.
Softball
In softball action, the Lady Pirates hosted and shut out Fair Grove 2-0 on Friday, April 1. Maddie Mobley got the win, allowing no runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Jamalyn Atkinson and Meagan Hawkins each had an RBI in the
win.
Ash Grove hosted Diamond on Tuesday, March 29, but lost 4-3. Hawkins took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Mobley had two hits in the game, while Ashlyn Gerla, Madi Grube and Hawkins each had a hit.
On Monday, March 28, the Lady Pirates lost their home opener to Mt. Vernon, 8-3. Chelsey Andrus, Emma McClelland, Hawkins, Grube and Atkinson all had a hit in the loss.
The Lady Pirates are now 2-6 on the season and were scheduled to travel to Southwest (Washburn) on Monday before hosting Sarcoxie yesterday and traveling to Stockton tomorrow. Ash Grove will also host the Lady Pirate Classic on
Saturday.
