Pirate football beat El Dorado Springs, Lady Pirates volleyball picks up two more wins

The Ash Grove High School football team traveled to El Dorado Springs on Friday, Sept. 4 and came home with a 38-20 win.
 
The Pirates are 2-0 on the season and will host Stockton this Friday night. With the win, Ash Grove moved to the top of the Class 1, District 3 standings with 47.5 points, followed by Miller (42.5 points), Marionville (39.5 points), Diamond (37 points) and Pierce City (35 points).
 
Volleyball
The Lady Pirates volleyball team continues to impress as they picked up two more wins last week.
 
Ash Grove traveled to Greenfield on Thursday, Sept. 3 and came home with a three-set win, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-13.
 
Bristol Lathrop led with 11 kills, Millie Willmon and Allie Nicholson each had 12 assists and Nicholson led with 12 digs. As a team Ash Grove had 60 digs, 22, assists, 21 kills and 10 aces.
 
The Lady Pirates started their week by traveling to Sparta on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and came home with a three-set victory, 27-25, 25-15 and 25-13.
 
Lathrop had 13 kills and seven digs in the win. As a team, Ash Grove had 50 digs, 31 kills, 30 assists, 18 aces and three blocks.
 
"Two road sweeps in a week is a good week,” said Head Coach Hilary Nicholson. “Samantha Schindler has been a very steady player for us, and Hadley Dean has been a force at the net and from the service line. This team is great because anyone can go off on any particular night. We're excited to be home on Tuesday."
 
Ash Grove is currently 7-1 on the season and were scheduled to host Pleasant Hope last night before heading to Fordland tomorrow night.
