Pirate football defeats Sarcoxie as regular season closes

Lady Pirate volleyball season ends at hands of Spokane in district playoffs
The Class 1, 10th ranked Ash Grove High School football hosted Sarcoxie on Friday, Oct. 24 and won the game 18-10.
With the win, the Pirates moved to 6-2 on the season and will host Pierce City this Friday night in an opening round game of the Class 1, District 3 playoffs.
Thayer finished first in the Class 1, District 3 standings with 55 points, followed by Marionville (51.44 points), Ash Grove (43.38 points), Miller (39.79 points), Pierce City (29.19 points) and Cabool (28.21 points).
Volleyball
The 2025 season has come to end for the Lady Pirates volleyball team after a four set loss to Spokane in the Class 2, District 10 tournament semifinals in Crane on Thursday, Oct. 23, 10-25, 27-25, 19-25 and 20-25.
Ash Grove reached the semifinals by defeating Pleasant Hope in three sets, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-17.
“This season has been one of constant growth and determination,” said head coach Diana Eiberger. “These ladies are truly sisters on and off the court. They played from the heart and played with joy. Monumental wins for these ladies have been Ava, Fordland, and Marionville. They also took sets from Miller, Clever, and Spokane in hard and thrilling matches. Their final record is 13-14-3. Each member of the 2025 team has a lot to be proud of from the season.”
Eiberger went on to say, “To our seniors: You showed us that leaders lead through positive actions and words. That each chance you get to be on the floor is a gift and to not take it for granted. We wish you all the very best in your futures and know you are always a member of this family. To all returning members: Each of you have improved and pushed yourself and your team throughout the season. You have taken each challenge that came your way and met it head on. Keep working hard, remember the lessons from this season, and continue to build on the foundations set before you by your class of 2026 seniors. Also, thank you to each family member and fan of these hardworking ladies. Hearing your cheers and encouraging words on and off the floor means a great deal to each of them. Thank you for all of your support, meals, and line judging. We look forward to seeing you next season!”
