Pirate footballers knock off Greenfield with big win on homecoming night

With a backdrop of a 1950’s themed homecoming—which was forced inside due to weather—the Ash Grove football team hosted the Greenfield Wildcats Oct. 11 and came away with a convincing 36-6 victory. The game really started rolling in the first half for the Pirates when freshman Parker Crow intercepted a pass from the Wildcats and ran it back 64 yards for a touchdown. The visitors never gained their
footing offensively and ended with a scant 6 points on the night. Although requested, no statistics of the game were submitted prior to this writing.
With the win, the Pirates move to 4-3 on the season and will travel to Marionville this Friday night.
Thayer still leads the Class 1, District 2 standings with 56 points; Pierce City is in second place with 52.17 points, Miller is in third place with 49.14 points, Cabool is
in fourth place with 38.31 points, Ash Grove is in fifth place with 32.43 points, Marionville is in sixth place with 30.13 points, Sarcoxie is in seventh place with 28.14 points and Diamond is in eighth place with 22.76 points.
