PTA’s Pirate Carnival set for this Saturday

The Ash Grove PTA will hold their annual Pirate Carnival on Saturday, March 30 from 4-8 p.m. at the Ash Grove schools. The event will feature a food court and carnival games.
Parent Aimee Gerla said there will be at least 15 games, as well as a bounce house for the kids. For $10, a wristband can be purchased which will give the holder unlimited game play, with the exception of a dunk booth.
The auctions and the food court will be held in the high school. Gerla said there would be large assortment of food items available for people to choose from.
“We will have several great options for food,” she said. “Items include: fried Oreo, hot dogs, cotton candy, pulled pork sandwiches, snow cones, soda, candy bars, ice cream bars, popcorn, nachos, soft pretzels, Frito pie, sweet tea and pizza.”
Gerla also offered carnival-goers this piece of advice: “Come hungry.”
In addition to the food court and games, there will also be both a live and silent auction at the high school. Gerla said the auctioneers would be Mike Gray and Jerry Morton.
The carnival is also a fundraising event, Gerla said.
“Each grade (or) club is responsible for a food itemandathemedbasket to be auctioned off,” she said. “They will receive 60-percent of the profit that their food and basket made during the carnival. Come and support your grade (or) club at the carnival.”
Carnival-goers can use Pirate Cash to pay for food, wrist bands for game play, or to throw at the dunk booth.
“There will be banks set up were you can exchange your cash for Pirate Cash,” Gerla said. “Dunk booth and all food will take Pirate Cash. You will be able to buy wrist bands and exchange cash for Pirate Cash at the entrance of the carnival.”
For those who would like to dunk someone at the dunk booth, here is the schedule: 4:00-4:20 p.m., Coach Dean; 4:25-4:45 p.m., Mrs. Thomp- son; 4:50-5:10 p.m., Coach Long; 5:15-5:35 p.m., Mrs. Hilary Nicholson; 5:40-6:00 p.m., Mrs. Buckley; 6:05-6:25 Police Chief.
Sixty percent of the profit each teacher makes on their food sales and baskets will go back into the classrooms. The teachers will be able to use this money to purchase things they need for their classroom and students.
