Republic comes from behind to beat Oakville thanks to Bartelsmeyer effort
Republic overcame a five-point deficit in the final three minutes to beat Oakville 55–50 as part of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Basketball Classics Saturday. Halli Bartels- meyer led Republic with 25 points.
Republic had led most of the game until Oakville took control in the fourth quarter, building a five- point lead at 48–43 with three minutes remaining. But Republic scored seven straight points in a 44-sec- ond span to retake the lead,
and held on from there. In the final three minutes, Re- public outscored Oakville 12–2.
The Lady Tigers’ late comeback wouldn’t have been possible if Bartel- smeyer hadn’t kept Re- public in the game nearly
single-handedly during the first three quarters.
“Halli played a tremen- dous game and honestly kept us in it to have a chance to win the game. She hit a lot of big shots,” said coach Kris Flood. “We had several good looks
today but just was not hitting. Once we hit those two threes, it really gave us the momentum, and we hit enough free throws at the end to get the win. I really believe this win will help us as we now turn our focus to the rest of conference
season.” Scoring Halli Bartel-
smeyer 25, Clara Frona- barger 12, Jazzy Kirby 9, Jade Kirby 6, Delaney Smith 2, Savana Powell- Goodman 1
