Republic freshmen qualify for state meet

Swimmers will travel to St. Peters this weekend for competition
A pair of Republic freshmen, Elise Replogle and Amelia Beaver, have qualified for the Class 1 state swimming championships in St. Peters this week.
Replogle earned spots in two events. She will compete in the 200-yard individual medley, where she is seeded 31st with a time of 2:26.31. She will also swim in the 100-yard breaststroke, entering as the 24th seed with a time of 1:13.82.
Beaver qualified in the 100-yard backstroke after a breakthrough performance at the SWMO Invitational. She cut two and a half seconds from her previous school record, finishing in 1:07.65. That time earned her the 30th seed at state.
The state meet will be held February 21–22 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.
