Republic getting Amazon

It’s all but official, the major project—given the moniker Project Lunker—at Highway MM and Sawyer Road in Brookline will be an Amazon Distribution and Fulfillment Center. An agreement between Atlanta-based Amazon builder Seefried Properties and the city of Republic was part of the Republic City Council agenda for the Oct. 20 meeting.
The property in question is approximately 133 acres and has been the recipient of major dirt movement starting Sept. 29. No timeline or any other details have been made public yet regarding the build, but other Amazon Fulfillment Centers nationwide—of which there are 75—employ around 1,500 workers. There are currently two other fulfillment centers in the state, in Hazelwood and St. Charles, both near St. Louis.
