Republic tracksters win 5 COC West Titles at championship

Republic captured five gold medals at the Central Ozark Conference West Division track meet in Springfield, with Reese Finley setting a school record to lead the way.
Finley broke her own school mark in the 400 meters, winning with a time of 57.24 seconds. The girls 4x800 relay team of Zoey Johns, Brylie Harris, Josie Stalzer, and Gracie Troester also took first place with a time of 10:03.86.
Republic won three field events. Ekene Chukwu threw the discus 48.41 meters to claim the title. Kaleb Norman won the javelin with a throw of 48.39 meters. Sienna Blankenship cleared 2.89 meters to win the pole vault.
Gracie Troester earned three silver medals in distance events. She finished second in the 800 meters (2:22.00), 1,600 meters (5:21.99), and 3,200 meters (11:30.09).
Other Republic medalists included Keiran Govan, who placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.72 meters. Danny Fair took second in the pole vault at 3.96 meters. Madison Chevalier finished second in the javelin with a throw of 33.62 meters, while Sammi Watson was third at 32.53 meters. Gavin Lawhon placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.88 seconds.
In the team standings, Republic’s girls finished fourth with 111.5 points. The boys placed sixth with 72 points. Carthage won the girls title with 173 points. Webb City and Willard tied for the boys championship with 142 points each.
