Richard Douglas Moore

Richard Douglas Moore, 71, of Ash Grove, passed away quietly at home on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020. Moore was born in 1949 in Everett, Wash. but moved to Ash Grove with his family as a child. He graduated from Ash Grove High School and was proud to have been president of his senior class. He studied family therapy at Southwest Baptist University and Washington University. He went on to work as a family therapist at Missouri Division of Youth Services for 29 years. Moore retired in 2007 to travel the world and enjoy his many passions including his gardens and all things outdoors. He had many adventures in Spain, Russia, Italy, France and even went paragliding in Switzerland. At home, he was a master woodworker and built beautiful furniture for friends and family. He was an avid reader, a lover of music and a Cardinals baseball fan.He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Moore, and an infant son, Timothy Patrick Moore.Moore is survived by his mother, Luetta Moore; his daughter Christy Wells and husband Adam; a granddaughter, brothers, Randy Moore and wife Terry Beth; Terry Lee Moore and wife Kaye; sister Lisa Moore, and a multitude of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and cherished friends across the globe.Moore's family will celebrate his life at a later date out of respect for the health and safety of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the American Kidney Fund at kidneyfund.org.
