Robert Wayne McKinney

Robert Wayne McKinney was born in Leon, Iowa, July 25, 1925 to Golda
(Peters) and Oral McKinney. He passed away at Birch Pointe Health Center in
Springfield, Nov. 24, 2020.
McKinney lived in Leon during his childhood and graduated from Leon High
School in May of 1942. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served his country.
He was a Seaman Water Tender Second Class on the USS Hancock during
WWII, serving for three years.
In 1948, he married Joyce Darlene Webster. To this union three children were
born: Fonda Rae, Randall Joseph and Kathy Lea.
The family moved to Washington where McKinney worked for Inman Machine
Company for over 40 years. His passion was rebuilding, restoring and racing
stock cars. In 1997, his first wife passed away.
In 2006, he moved to Missouri and married his lifelong friend Marjorie Peters.
Surviving are his loving wife, Marge; son Randy and wife Jan; daughter Kathy Scheckla and husband Kevin: step daughters Sharon Hodge and husband Dave and Peggy Burkhead and husband John; six grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and his daughter Fonda Rae Croghan and his step son Chuck Peters.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
