Seniors dominate in win over Webb City

Republic’s soccer team jumped on top of Webb City and cruised to an easy win on Senior Night, winning 8–0. Senior Austin Beck had the biggest night of all, scoring five goals. Three of those goals came in the first six minutes of the game.
Coach Kevin Hauck wasn’t sure what to say about his team’s fantastic start.
“I’m a little speechless. We came out just blazing and I was really happy to see it,” Hauck said.
Three other seniors also scored in the blowout: Drew Flippin, Chris Pacheco and Spenser Waller.
Republic led 4–0 before seven minutes had elapsed. After Beck’s quick start, Flippin got into the act. Fourteen minutes later, Pacheco made it 5–0. Waller scored on a penalty kick four minutes after that, and Beck scored his fourth goal of the game on a header to make the Republic lead 7–0 at halftime.
Beck scored the only goal of the second half to make it 8–0.
Before the game, the Tigers honored its senior class: Jean Carlo Marin Barrantes, Beck, Carlos Chan, Luis Elivo, Flippin, Dalton Ghan, Alex Leonard, Elijah Masten, Pacheco, Waller and Blake Williamson.
“All the seniors contributed [to Republic’s Final Four run] last year as well … so coming into this year, we knew that we had a lot coming back,” said Hauck. “They’re definitely going to go down as the winningest group to come through Republic, and they’ve been a part of something special. It’s going to be something that they’re going to definitely leave behind.”
Republic improved to 15–8.

Republic ended its regular season with a tough loss at Kickapoo, 2–1 in overtime. The Tigers missed several scoring opportunities, including a penalty kick in the first half, that would have allowed them to pick up a road win.
Chris Pacheco scored Republic’s only goal of the night, late in the second half after Kickapoo had taken the lead. Neither team scored again until the Chiefs won the game in sudden death less than a minute into overtime.
