Republic’s boys basketball team picked up two victories, including a lopsided win over Webb City that featured one of the highest-scoring quarters in state history. The Tigers beat Glendale Tuesday 68–56, then hammered Webb City Friday 80–46.
Against Glendale, Republic mixed defensive pressure with patient offense to grind out the win. The Tigers held the Falcons 14 points below their season scoring average while Brenley Hagewood poured in 33 points to lead all scorers.
CJ Uhl added 16 points for Republic, with 11 of those coming in the first half. Brody Blades scored nine and Ryder Davis had six. Joelle Rover led Glendale with 17 points.
Friday, Republic turned a close game into a blowout with a 32-point third quarter explosion that helped them beat Webb City by 34 points. That third-quarter output tied for the 23rd-highest single-quarter total in Missouri history, according to Missouri State High School Activities Association records.
Hagewood scored 27 points and Uhl had a career-high 26 to lead Republic. Davin Parks scored 11 and Davis added nine.
“He’s one of the most explosive and athletic players that we’ve had in this program,” Brown said of Hagewood. “To see him use that and add it by offensive rebounding … those are kind of some trash baskets that he’ll benefit from and we’ll benefit from.”
Holton Keith led Webb City with 16 points and Slade Hurd scored 15.
Republic improved its record to 16–3.
