Valerie Jean Killingsworth

Valerie Jean Killingsworth, 65, loving wife and mother of five, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 21, 1953, in Carthage, the daugh- ter of Dr. Richard and Molly Boyd. The family moved to Springfield when Killingsworth was six, where she spent the rest of her childhood. After graduating Parkview High School, Killingsworth went on to earn degrees in educa- tion from Missouri State and Drury University, teaching for a period of years in the Springfield public school system before becoming a pioneer of homeschooling for the region.
Killingsworth was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Molly Boyd.
She is survived by her husband Lonnie, her sister Kristi, her five children, Chad, Jody, Katie, Fred, and Troy, and 16 grandchildren (plus two more on the way).
Visitation was Monday, July 29, 2019, from 5 p.m. until service time at South Haven Baptist Church, 2353 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield, MO 65807. Fu- neral services began at 7 p.m. at the church. Graveside services were at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove.
In lieu of flowers, it was Valerie’s wish that donations be made to Cedars Christian School of Bloomington, Ind., (2401 S Endwright Rd, 47403).
