Willard baseball goes 3-1 last week
The Willard High School baseball team split four games in Bartlesville, Okla., and the Lady Tigers soccer team knocked off two more teams last week.
The Willard baseball team competed in Bartlesville, Okla., last week, starting on March 28 and ending on March 30.
The Tigers were able to knock off Sapulpa, Okla., on March 30, 5-3.
Both teams scored a run in the second and third in- nings, but Sapulpa could
only manage one run in the fourth inning, while the Ti- gers plated two runs to take 4-3 lead. Willard scored their final run in the sixth inning to win the game, 5-3.
Willard’s Ethan Thomp- son went 1-3 with two runs scored; Grant Harris was 1-3, Garrett Rice went 1-4, Noah Wooldridge was 1-1 with a run scored and an RBI and Jacob VanDoren finished the game 0-2 with an RBI.
On March 29, the Tigers fell to host Bartlesville 9-8. Wooldridge was 1-3 with
a run scored and two RBI;
Thompson went 1-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Rhett Anderson was 1-3 with an RBI.
Willard played two games on March 28, beating Ponca City 11-7 and Collinsville 13-3.
Against Ponca City, Tyler Harre went 2-2 with a double and five RBI; Wooldridge was 1-2 with a run scored and three RBI and Thompson finished 1-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Rice went 3-4 against Collinsville with a home run and a double, scoring three times and driving in four
runs; Harre was 2-4 with a double, a run scored and three RBI and Harris went 3-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.
Girls Soccer
In girls soccer, Willard had a solid week of play. The Lady Tigers hosted Greenwood on March 26 and won 9-0 in shutout fashion. The Lady Tiger squad earlier hosted the Hillcrest Lady Hornets, March 25, and won that game 6-0, again with shining defense.
