Willard baseball goes 5-1 last week, Lady Tigers soccer finishes 0-1-2 at tournament
The Willard High School baseball team played six games last week, winning five of them and hosted the Willard Lead Off Classic Thursday, March 26 through Saturday, March 28.
On Saturday the Tigers took on East Carter and won that game 4-0.
Willard scored a single run in the third inning, two runs in the fifth inning and a single run in the sixth inning. Matthew Burns homered in the game, Jackson Redd had a triple and also got the win, going six innings, allowing no runs on two hots with six strike outs.
Willard played a double header on Friday, defeating Oak Grove 11-4 and Valle Catholic 10-2. The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday, falling to Logan-Rogersville, 6-4. Tyler Davis had two hits in the loss.
Willard defeated West Plains 10-0 on Wednesday, March 25 at home. Redd had a home run in the win. The Tigers started the week by beating Springfield Catholic 16-7 in Springfield on Monday, March 23.
The Tigers are 8-1 on the season and were scheduled to play against Fair Grove on Monday and Ozark tomorrow night before heading to Owasso, Okla. on Saturday.
Girls soccer
The Lady Tigers girls soccer team traveled to Faucett on Friday and Saturday to take part in the Lady Dragon Invitational.
Willard lost to Pleasant Hill on Saturday, 1-0 and tied Mid-Buchanan 0-0 on the same day. In their first game of the tournament, Willard tied Villa Duchesne 1-1 on Friday night. The Lady Tigers opened the week by defeating New Heights Christian Academy 7-0 on Thursday.
Willard is 1-1-2 on the season and were scheduled to play against New Covenant Academy on Monday and Kickapoo last night before traveling to Ozark tomorrow night.
