Willard baseball picks up 18th win of the season, Lady Tigers soccer knock off two Springfield schools
The Class 5, number one, ranked Willard Tigers baseball team traveled to Springfield on Thursday, April 23 to take on Parkview and came home with an 11-1 victory.
The Tigers scored single runs in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings and four runs in the third inning and three runs in the sixth inning. The Vikings scored their only run in the bottom of the third inning.
Kade Taylor went 2-3 with a run scored and two RBIs in the win.
Willard opened the week by going to Springfield to take on Glendale on Tuesday, April 21 and came home with an 8-3 win over the Falcons.
The Tigers jumped all over the Glendale starter in the first inning, scoring 7 runs to take an early 7-0 lead. Willard added a single run in the top of the seventh to increase their lead to 7-0. Glendale scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to close out the scoring.
Matthew Burns was 2-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs and Cade Hayter finished the game 1-4 with two RBIs.
Willard is now 18-5 on the season and were scheduled to play Class 5, sixth ranked Carl Junction on Monday before traveling to Class 5, fourth ranked Webb City last night. The Tigers will return home to play against Bolivar tonight before hosting Neosho tomorrow night and Branson on Saturday.
Girls soccer
The Lady Tigers soccer team went 2-1 last week defeating Parkview at home on Thursday, 3-1. Willard lost to Glendale at home on Tuesday, 5-0 but defeated Hillcrest on the road 2-0 on Monday, April 20.
Willard is now 10-6-2 on the season and were scheduled to play against Webb City last night before traveling to Neosho tomorrow night.
