Willard football falls to Webb City to end regular season

Tiger soccer drops two games, volleyball advances to district title game
 
The Willard High School football season has come to an end, as the Tigers hosted Webb City on Friday, Oct. 22 but fell to the Cardinals 55-0.
Russell Roweton led Willard with 101 yards passing on eight completions and Kessler Heiney and Trey Pulford combined for 85 yards receiving in the loss. Willard falls to 0-9 on the season and will finish fifth in the Class 5, District 10 standings.
“The good thing about the post season is we have a clean slate,” said head coach Frank Tristan. “We need to have a great week of practice and be ready for Friday.”
Willard will travel to Neosho on Friday to take on the fourth seeded Wildcats in a district playoff opening round game.
Soccer
In boy’s soccer, the Tigers hosted Springfield Catholic on Thursday, Oct. 21, but fell to the Irishmen, 5-2. Earlier in the week, Willard traveled to Ozark and lost 6-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
Willard is now 9-14 on the season and was scheduled to finish up the regular season at home against Carl Junction on Tuesday night, before heading to Bolivar on Saturday for an opening round, Class 3, District 6 playoff game against Grandview.
The Tigers are seeded fourth in the district, Neosho is the top seed followed by Bolivar, Webb City, Grandview, Carl Junction, McDonald County and Ruskin.
All the opening round games are scheduled for Saturday, with the semifinals being played on Tuesday, Nov. 2, and the championship game on Thursday, Nov. 4.
Volleyball
In volleyball, the Lady Tigers hosted and easily dispatched of Branson in straight sets Monday, Oct. 18, and then traveled to Rogersville to knock off West Plains in the semifinals of the Class 4, District 11 playoffs, 26-24, 25-18 and 25-18.
Willard is now 27-3-1 and were scheduled to play in the championship game of the district tournament against host Rogersville on Tuesday. The winner of this game will host the sectional round on Thursday night.
